Lucie Steel making bread

Our story

I started Birch Bread in a shipping container in my garden. Just me baking, selling to local cafes and at community markets and teaching bread making courses.

Seven years later I moved the business to Pangbourne high street where I now employ seven local people and we sell our amazing range of cakes, breads and savouries and also supply wholesale to local cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Pangbourne is a truly community led village and we feel very lucky to now be part of the wonderful selection of brilliant artisan shops and cafes that make up the high street. We have got to know our amazing customers who have supported us since our opening in November 2018, are still with us and constantly recommend us to their friends and family. An amazing testament to the incredible team at Birch Bread.

Obviously 2020 has so far proved to be a difficult year for absolutely everyone and we thank our customers from our hearts for all their support. Bread and cakes run through our veins and we absolutely love what we do and hope to be part of Pangbourne for a long time to come.
